The Tiger made it through Denman’s very well on Saturday. It took a bit to get used to the coaster brake in the turns but after a few stuffed pedals and a blown corners I had it down. The gearing was perfect and the big michelin meats hooked up really well. After I finished Denman’s I felt so confident I thought Hillside might be a possibility. I made it most of the way through before the rear cog’s 3 splines stripped off the driver. So Monday I picked up a machined Bendix cog rather than the POS stamped High-Stop I had. Hopefully it’ll hold up on Sunday!
Race preparations continue on Tiger II. Rebuilt the rear hub and changed the gearing to 33 x 16. The Kommel coaster hub is truly a thing of beauty inside and out. The knurled clutches are abnormally large and the driver was still immaculate after more than 40 years of use. The hub shell is cast and polished instead of stamped together from pot metal. Overall it’s bitchin. Tomorrow will be the Tiger’s first run through Denman’s. I’m excited to see how having only a coaster brake actually is in the woods.
I’m taking this cruiser race way to seriously.
Audi refused to start last week. 96 dollars for a new battery and she’s back in action. Honda’s head gasket blew on Saturday, look for that dude on craigslist. The truck is still being a badass. Tandems are so hot right now. SO HOT.
